Reject a divisive person after one or two warnings.

Fathers, ¹  do not provoke your children to anger, ²  but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

“Now, you priests, this commandment is for you.

These things happened to them as examples and were written for our instruction, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds reproof shows good sense. ¹ 

The person ¹  who hears the reproof that leads to life ²  is at home ³  among the wise. ⁴ 

Have I not written thirty sayings ¹  for you, sayings ²  of counsel and knowledge,

Immediately Jesus ¹  sent the man ²  away with a very strong warning.

The one who refuses correction despises himself, ¹  but whoever hears ²  reproof acquires understanding. ³ 

Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, ¹  bear with my message of exhortation, for in fact I have written to you briefly.

Then you will know that I sent this commandment to you so that my covenant ¹  may continue to be with Levi,” says the Lord who rules over all.

I put this charge ¹  before you, Timothy my child, in keeping with the prophecies once spoken about you, ²  in order that with such encouragement ³  you may fight the good fight.

Because you have kept ¹  my admonition ²  to endure steadfastly, ³  I will also keep you from the hour of testing that is about to come on the whole world to test those who live on the earth.
