Even the doe abandons her newborn fawn ¹  in the field because there is no grass.

He makes nations great, ¹  and destroys them; he extends the boundaries of nations and disperses ²  them. ³ 

Severe discipline ¹  is for the one who abandons the way; the one who hates reproof ²  will die.

For she leaves ¹  her eggs on the ground, and lets them be warmed on the soil.

we are persecuted, but not abandoned; ¹  we are knocked down, ²  but not destroyed,

Woe to the worthless shepherd who abandons the flock! May a sword fall on his arm and his right eye! May his arm wither completely away, and his right eye become completely blind!”

The hired hand, ¹  who is not a shepherd and does not own sheep, sees the wolf coming and abandons ²  the sheep and runs away. ³  So the wolf attacks ⁴  the sheep and scatters them.

God abandons me to evil ¹  men, ²  and throws ³  me into the hands of wicked men.

For if you turn away from following him, he will once again abandon ¹  them in the wilderness, and you will be the reason for their destruction.” ² 

For the Lord promotes ¹  justice, and never abandons ²  his faithful followers. They are permanently secure, ³  but the children ⁴  of evil men are wiped out. ⁵ 

Indeed, I am about to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not take heed to the sheep headed to slaughter, will not seek the scattered, and will not heal the injured. ¹  Moreover, he will not nourish the one that is healthy but instead will eat the meat of the fat sheep ²  and tear off their hooves.
