She is disobedient; ¹  she refuses correction. ²  She does not trust the Lord; she does not seek the advice of ³  her God.

They quickly forgot what he had done; ¹  they did not wait for his instructions. ² 

But when Paul wanted to enter the public assembly, ¹  the disciples would not let him.

Reuben said to them, “Didn’t I say to you, ‘Don’t sin against the boy,’ but you wouldn’t listen? So now we must pay for shedding his blood!” ¹ 

But he refused to listen to her. ¹  He overpowered her and humiliated her by raping her. ² 

So these three men refused to answer ²  Job further, because he was righteous in his ³  own eyes.

But he refused. Instead, he went out and threw him in prison until he repaid the debt.

But the older son ¹  became angry ²  and refused ³  to go in. His father came out and appealed to him,

Judah recognized them and said, “She is more upright ¹  than I am, because I wouldn’t give her to Shelah my son.” He did not have sexual relations with her ²  again.

Jeremiah answered, “That’s a lie! I am not deserting to the Babylonians.” ¹  But Irijah would not listen to him. Irijah put Jeremiah under arrest and took him to the officials.

The Lord’s messenger said to him, “You should not ask me my name, because you cannot comprehend it.” ¹ 

For they have not paid attention to what I said to them through my servants the prophets whom I sent to them over and over again,’ ¹  says the Lord. ²  ‘And you exiles ³  have not paid any attention to them either,’ says the Lord. ⁴ 

Now when he came to the house, Jesus ¹  did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John, ²  and James, and the child’s father and mother.

But they said to her, “You’ve lost your mind!” ¹  But she kept insisting that it was Peter, ²  and they kept saying, ³  “It is his angel!” ⁴ 

Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest, since there are already priests who offer ¹  the gifts prescribed by the law.

But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he was not willing to release them.

Saul retained David ¹  on that day and did not allow him to return to his father’s house.

You gave the weary ¹  no water to drink and from the hungry you withheld food.

would not God discover it, for he knows ¹  one’s thoughts? ² 

They rejected the fruitful land; ¹  they did not believe his promise. ²
