So that same day Esau made his way back ¹  to Seir.

So Esau (also known as Edom) lived in the hill country of Seir. ¹ 

The sons of Seir: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan.

“Son of man, turn toward ¹  Mount Seir, ²  and prophesy against it.

These were the sons of Seir the Horite, ¹  who were living in the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,

and the Horites in their hill country of Seir, as far as El Paran, which is near the desert. ¹ 

Jacob sent messengers on ahead ¹  to his brother Esau in the land of Seir, the region ²  of Edom.

This is the account of Esau, the father ¹  of the Edomites, in the hill country of Seir.

Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Horites, the descendants ¹  of Seir in the land of Edom.

Edom will be a possession, Seir, ¹  his enemies, will also be a possession; but Israel will act valiantly.

Now it is ordinarily an eleven-day journey ¹  from Horeb ²  to Kadesh Barnea ³  by way of Mount Seir. ⁴ 

The Ammonites and Moabites attacked the men from Mount Seir ¹  and annihilated them. ²  When they had finished off the men ³  of Seir, they attacked and destroyed one another. ⁴ 

chief Dishon, chief Ezer, chief Dishan. These were the chiefs of the Horites, according to their chief lists in the land of Seir.

I will turn Mount Seir into a desolate ruin; ¹  I will cut off ²  from it the one who passes through or returns.

Amaziah boldly led his army to the Valley of Salt, ¹  where he defeated ²  10,000 Edomites. ³ 

Here is a message about Dumah: ¹  Someone calls to me from Seir, ²  “Watchman, what is left of the night? Watchman, what is left of the night?” ³ 

“This is what the sovereign Lord says: ‘Moab ¹  and Seir say, “Look, the house of Judah is like all the other nations.”

Let my lord go on ahead of his servant. I will travel more slowly, at the pace of the herds and the children, ¹  until I come to my lord at Seir.”

The Amorite inhabitants of that area ¹  confronted ²  you and chased you like a swarm of bees, striking you down from Seir as far as Hormah. ³ 

Then we turned and set out toward the desert land on the way to the Red Sea ¹  just as the Lord told me to do, detouring around Mount Seir for a long time.
