I will therefore have him flogged ¹  and release him.” ²

But it is your custom that I release one prisoner ¹  for you at the Passover. ²  So do you want me to release for you the king of the Jews?”

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release ¹  Barabbas instead.

Pilate addressed them once again because he wanted ¹  to release Jesus.

During the feast it was customary to release one prisoner to the people, ¹  whomever they requested.

But they all shouted out together, ¹  “Take this man ²  away! Release Barabbas for us!”

So Pilate asked them, ¹  “Do you want me to release the king of the Jews for you?”

From this point on, Pilate tried ¹  to release him. But the Jewish leaders ²  shouted out, ³  “If you release this man, ⁴  you are no friend of Caesar! ⁵  Everyone who claims to be a king ⁶  opposes Caesar!”

During the feast the governor was accustomed to release one prisoner to the crowd, ¹  whomever they wanted.

The ¹  governor asked them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas!”

At daybreak ¹  the magistrates ²  sent their police officers, ³  saying, “Release those men.”

When ¹  they had heard my case, ²  they wanted to release me, ³  because there was no basis for a death sentence ⁴  against me.

So after they had assembled, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus ¹  Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Christ?” ² 

So Pilate said, ¹  “Do you refuse to speak to me? Don’t you know I have the authority ²  to release you, and to crucify you?” ³ 

At the end of every seven years you must declare a cancellation ¹  of debts.

This is the nature of the cancellation: Every creditor must remit what he has loaned to another person; ¹  he must not force payment from his fellow Israelite, ²  for it is to be recognized as “the Lord’s cancellation of debts.”

saying to the sixth angel, the one holding ¹  the trumpet, “Set free ²  the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates!”

You may exact payment from a foreigner, but whatever your fellow Israelite ¹  owes you, you must remit.

He ¹  commanded them: “At the end of seven years, at the appointed time of the cancellation of debts, ²  at the Feast of Temporary Shelters, ³
