Before the kindling is even placed under your pots, ¹  he ²  will sweep it away along with both the raw and cooked meat. ³ 

hands, but cannot touch, feet, but cannot walk. They cannot even clear their throats. ¹ 

Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Come closer so I can touch you, ¹  my son, and know for certain if you really are my son Esau.” ² 

My father may touch me! Then he’ll think I’m mocking him ¹  and I’ll bring a curse on myself instead of a blessing.”

Samson said to the young man who held his hand, “Position me so I can touch the pillars that support the temple. ¹  Then I can lean on them.”

Woe ¹  to those who live in ease in Zion, ²  to those who feel secure on Mount Samaria. They think of themselves as ³  the elite class of the best nation. The family ⁴  of Israel looks to them for leadership. ⁵ 

Who is weak, and I am not weak? Who is led into sin, ¹  and I do not burn with indignation?

My children – I am again undergoing birth pains until Christ is formed in you! ¹ 

so that they would search for God and perhaps grope around ¹  for him and find him, ²  though he is ³  not far from each one of us.

So whenever the spirit from God would come upon Saul, David would take his lyre and play it. This would bring relief to Saul and make him feel better. Then the evil spirit would leave him alone. ¹ 

For the Lord says, “I will now throw out those who live in this land. I will bring so much trouble on them that they will actually feel it.” ¹ 

For how can we thank God enough for you, ¹  for all the joy we feel ²  because of you before our God?

You must not give in to him or even listen to him; do not feel sympathy for him or spare him or cover up for him.

You must not pity him, but purge out the blood of the innocent ¹  from Israel, so that it may go well with you.
