The light in his tent grows dark; his lamp above him is extinguished. ¹ 

He made it dark; ¹  they did not disobey his orders. ² 

May their path be ¹  dark and slippery, as the Lord’s angel chases them!

They grope about in darkness ¹  without light; he makes them stagger ²  like drunkards.

In the dark the robber ¹  breaks into houses, ²  but by day they shut themselves in; ³  they do not know the light. ⁴ 

Remember your covenant promises, ¹  for the dark regions of the earth are full of places where violence rules. ²
