The sum total of the Levites in the holy city was 284.

Ram the father of Amminadab, Amminadab the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon,

from Judah, Nahshon ¹  son of Amminadab;

Ram was the father of Amminadab, and Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, the tribal chief of Judah.

Hezron was the father of Ram, Ram was the father of Amminadab,

Amminadab was the father of Nachshon, Nachshon was the father of Salmah,

Jesse was the father of Eliab, his firstborn; Abinadab was born second, Shimea third,

The sons ¹  of Kohath: His son Amminadab, his son Korah, his son Assir,

From the descendants of Uzziel: Amminadab the leader and 112 of his relatives.

The Lord’s shout is powerful, ¹  the Lord’s shout is majestic. ² 

Let them fall ¹  slain in the land of Babylonia, ²  mortally wounded in the streets of her cities. ³ 

They loaded the ark of God on a new cart and carried it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart.

The standard ¹  of the camp of the Judahites set out first according to their companies, and over his company was Nahshon son of Amminadab.

Then Jesse called Abinadab and presented him to Samuel. ¹  But Samuel ²  said, “The Lord has not chosen this one, either.”
