God abandons me to evil ¹  men, ²  and throws ³  me into the hands of wicked men.

He locks the waters in his clouds, and the clouds do not burst with the weight of them.

For he does not still consider a person, ¹  that he should come before God in judgment.

May lying lips be silenced – lips ¹  that speak defiantly against the innocent ²  with arrogance and contempt!

When I refused to confess my sin, ¹  my whole body wasted away, ²  while I groaned in pain all day long.

I am like a man who cannot hear and is incapable of arguing his defense. ¹ 

Their venom is like that of a snake, ¹  like a deaf serpent ²  that does not hear, ³ 

May their dining table become a trap before them! May it be a snare for that group of friends! ¹ 

A song, a psalm of Asaph. O God, do not be silent! Do not ignore us! ²  Do not be inactive, O God!

However, ¹  because ²  I called but you refused to listen, ³  because ⁴  I stretched out my hand ⁵  but no one paid attention,

When words abound, transgression is inevitable, ¹  but the one who restrains ²  his words ³  is wise.

The one who shuts his ears ¹  to the cry ²  of the poor, he too will cry out and will not be answered. ³ 

Wisdom is unattainable ¹  for a fool; in court ²  he does not open his mouth. ³ 

A time to rip, and a time to sew; a time to keep silent, and a time to speak.

Eyes ¹  will no longer be blind ²  and ears ³  will be attentive.

Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes, those who are deaf, even though they have ears!

“But you made the Nazirites drink wine; ¹  you commanded the prophets, ‘Do not prophesy!’

Take away from me your ¹  noisy songs; I don’t want to hear the music of your stringed instruments. ²

We are experiencing trouble on every side, ¹  but are not crushed; we are perplexed, ²  but not driven to despair;
