A benevolent ¹  person leaves an inheritance ²  for his grandchildren, ³  but the wealth of a sinner is stored up for the righteous. ⁴ 

The one who oppresses the poor to increase his own gain and the one who gives to the rich ¹  – both end up only in poverty.

Like one who grabs a wild dog by the ears, ¹  so is the person passing by who becomes furious ²  over a quarrel not his own.

The one who increases his wealth by increasing interest ¹  gathers it for someone who is gracious ²  to the needy.

When someone’s ¹  prosperity ²  increases, those who consume it also increase; so what does its owner ³  gain, except that he gets to see it with his eyes? ⁴ 

So what advantage does a wise man have over a fool? ¹  And what advantage ²  does a pauper gain by knowing how to survive? ³ 

Let your private parts be exposed! Your genitals will be on display! ¹  I will get revenge; I will not have pity on anyone,” ² 

The sovereign Lord says this, the one who gathers the dispersed of Israel: “I will still gather them up.” ¹ 

Rather, each person will die for his own sins. The teeth of the person who eats the sour grapes will themselves grow numb. ¹ 

The time has come; the day has struck! The customer should not rejoice, nor the seller mourn; for divine wrath ¹  comes against their whole crowd.

In whatever tribe the foreigner resides, there you will give him his inheritance,” declares the sovereign Lord.

But with an overwhelming flood ¹  he will make a complete end of Nineveh; ²  he will drive ³  his enemies into darkness.

Because of his success ¹  he offers sacrifices to his throw net and burns incense to his dragnet; ²  for because of them he has plenty of food, ³  and more than enough to eat. ⁴ 

This will be the punishment of Egypt and of all nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

“Do not accumulate for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth ¹  and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal.

But when the Pharisees ¹  heard this they said, “He does not cast out demons except by the power of Beelzebul, ²  the ruler ³  of demons!”

For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but forfeits his life? Or what can a person give in exchange for his life?

The experts in the law ¹  who came down from Jerusalem ²  said, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” ³  and, “By the ruler ⁴  of demons he casts out demons.”

But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life ¹  will be demanded back from ²  you, but who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’ ³ 

When ¹  one of those at the meal with Jesus ²  heard this, he said to him, “Blessed is everyone ³  who will feast ⁴  in the kingdom of God!” ⁵
