Remain ¹  in me, and I will remain in you. ²  Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, ³  unless it remains ⁴  in ⁵  the vine, so neither can you unless you remain ⁶  in me.

Jesus replied, “You would have no authority ¹  over me at all, unless it was given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you ²  is guilty of greater sin.” ³ 

Then they ¹  shouted out, “Away with him! Away with him! ²  Crucify ³  him!” Pilate asked, ⁴  “Shall I crucify your king?” The high priests replied, “We have no king except Caesar!”

I have experienced ¹  help from God to this day, and so I stand testifying to both small and great, saying nothing except ²  what the prophets and Moses said ³  was going to happen:

Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not arrive until the rebellion comes ¹  and the man of lawlessness ²  is revealed, the son of destruction. ³ 

Only in the land of Goshen, where the Israelites lived, was there no hail.

Balaam replied, ¹  “Must I not be careful ²  to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?” ³ 

Then he uttered this oracle: “O, who will survive when God does this! ¹ 

He must eat the same share they do, despite any profits he may gain from the sale of his family’s inheritance. ¹ 

“All the servants of the king and the people of the king’s provinces know that there is only one law applicable ¹  to any man or woman who comes uninvited to the king in the inner court – that person will be put to death, unless the king extends to him the gold scepter, permitting him to be spared. ²  Now I have not been invited to come to the king for some thirty days!”

They detest me and maintain their distance; ¹  they do not hesitate to spit in my face.

Surely it is an empty cry ¹  – God does not hear it; the Almighty does not take notice of it.

With bow and arrow ¹  men will hunt ²  there, for the whole land will be covered ³  with thorns and briers.

In your days of majesty, ¹  was not Sodom your sister a byword in your mouth,

So ¹  he answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

He ¹  said to them, “Not everyone can accept this statement, except those to whom it has been given.

“Why does this man speak this way? He is blaspheming! ¹  Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

He did not speak to them without a parable. But privately he explained everything to his own disciples.

So Jesus said to him, “Unless you people ¹  see signs and wonders you will never believe!” ² 

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
