As Jesus looked at him, he felt love for him and said, “You lack one thing. Go, sell whatever you have and give the money ¹  to the poor, and you will have treasure ²  in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

After Joseph ¹  bought a linen cloth ²  and took down the body, he wrapped it in the linen and placed it in a tomb cut out of the rock. ³  Then ⁴  he rolled a stone across the entrance ⁵  of the tomb.

But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. ¹  He has been raised! ²  He is not here. Look, there is the place where they laid him.

Then Jesus said, ¹  “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, ²  and I do nothing on my own initiative, ³  but I speak just what the Father taught me. ⁴ 

Then they ¹  shouted out, “Away with him! Away with him! ²  Crucify ³  him!” Pilate asked, ⁴  “Shall I crucify your king?” The high priests replied, “We have no king except Caesar!”

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming ¹  a curse for us (because it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”) ² 

Everyone who crosses over to those numbered, from twenty years old and up, is to pay an offering to the Lord.

So Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; therefore Israel turned away from him.

But he knows the pathway that I take; ¹  if he tested me, I would come forth like gold. ² 

Examine me, O Lord, and test me! Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives! ¹ 

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! ¹  Test me, and know my concerns! ² 

It is better to live ¹  in a desert land ²  than with a quarrelsome and easily-provoked ³  woman.

One who digs a pit may ¹  fall into it, and one who breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. ² 

So go into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’

Then he released Barabbas for them. But after he had Jesus flogged, ¹  he handed him over ²  to be crucified. ³ 

Above ¹  his head they put the charge against him, ²  which read: ³  “This is Jesus, the king of the Jews.”

When they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and experts in the law ¹  arguing with them.

But they were insistent, ¹  demanding with loud shouts that he be crucified. And their shouts prevailed.

There was also an inscription ¹  over him, “This is the king of the Jews.”

and how our chief priests and rulers handed him over ¹  to be condemned to death, and crucified ²  him.
