Then everyone will know that I am the Lord, who drew my sword from its sheath – it will not be sheathed again!’

Javan, Tubal, and Meshech were your clients; they exchanged slaves and bronze items for your merchandise.

Judah and the land of Israel were your clients; they traded wheat from Minnith, ¹  millet, honey, olive oil, and balm for your merchandise.

The merchants of Sheba and Raamah engaged in trade with you; they traded the best kinds of spices along with precious stones and gold for your products.

The traders among the peoples hiss at you; you have become a horror, and will be no more.’”

He inquired of Arioch the king’s deputy, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” ¹  Then Arioch informed Daniel about the matter.

He said, “Go, Daniel. For these matters are closed and sealed until the time of the end.

But you should go your way ¹  until the end. ²  You will rest and then at the end of the days you will arise to receive ³  what you have been allotted.” ⁴ 

I will put an end to all her celebration: her annual religious festivals, monthly new moon celebrations, and weekly Sabbath festivities – all her appointed festivals.

They will eat, but not be satisfied; they will engage in prostitution, but not increase in numbers; because they have abandoned the Lord by pursuing other gods. ¹ 

Listen! The Lord is calling ¹  to the city! It is wise to respect your authority, O Lord! ²  Listen, O nation, and those assembled in the city! ³ 

saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood!” But they said, “What is that to us? You take care of it yourself!”

but to sit at my right or at my left is not mine to give. It is for those for whom it has been prepared.” ¹ 

For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels ¹  in heaven.

and Joanna the wife of Cuza ¹  (Herod’s ²  household manager), ³  Susanna, and many others who provided for them ⁴  out of their own resources.

But Jesus ¹  said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, ²  but as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” ³ 

“Exert every effort ¹  to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

And when the people ¹  saw it, they all complained, ²  “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” ³ 

¹ He found in the temple courts ²  those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables. ³ 

To those who sold the doves he said, “Take these things away from here! Do not make ¹  my Father’s house a marketplace!” ²
