People were completely astounded and said, “He has done everything well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Then many of his disciples, when they heard these things, ¹  said, “This is a difficult ²  saying! ³  Who can understand it?” ⁴ 

So they took away ¹  the stone. Jesus looked upward ²  and said, “Father, I thank you that you have listened to me. ³ 

The person who does not love me does not obey ¹  my words. And the word ²  you hear is not mine, but the Father’s who sent me.

When they heard this, ¹  they ceased their objections ²  and praised ³  God, saying, “So then, God has granted the repentance ⁴  that leads to life even to the Gentiles.” ⁵ 

Agrippa ¹  said to Festus, ²  “I would also like to hear the man myself.” “Tomorrow,” he replied, ³  “you will hear him.”

and in order that in the hearing of your son and your grandson you may tell ¹  how I made fools ²  of the Egyptians ³  and about ⁴  my signs that I displayed ⁵  among them, so that you may know ⁶  that I am the Lord.”

The nations will hear ¹  and tremble; anguish ²  will seize ³  the inhabitants of Philistia.

When the Lord heard you, he became angry and made this vow: ¹ 

Then all the people will hear and be afraid, and not be so presumptuous again.

“Tell ¹  all the leaders of Shechem this: ‘Why would you want ²  to have seventy men, all Jerub-Baal’s sons, ruling over you, when you can have just one ruler? Recall that I am your own flesh and blood.’” ³ 

He said to his mother, “You know ¹  the eleven hundred pieces of silver which were stolen ²  from you, about which I heard you pronounce a curse? Look here, I have the silver. I stole ³  it, but now I am giving it back to you.” ⁴  His mother said, “May the Lord reward ⁵  you, my son!”

When David’s words were overheard and reported to Saul, he called for him. ¹ 

I was very angry when I heard their outcry and these complaints. ¹ 

When they heard the law, they removed from Israel all who were of mixed ancestry.

“This is why ¹  my troubled thoughts bring me back ²  – because of my feelings ³  within me.

you sent widows away empty-handed, and the arms ¹  of the orphans you crushed. ² 

Men of understanding say to me – any wise man listening to me says –

What we have heard and learned ¹  – that which our ancestors ²  have told us –

to those who keep his covenant, who are careful to obey his commands. ¹
