Too bad for the wicked sinners! For they will get exactly what they deserve. ¹ 

I will avenge ¹  their blood which I had not previously acquitted. It is the Lord who dwells in Zion!

Woe to the city guilty of bloodshed! ¹  She is full of lies; ²  she is filled with plunder; ³  she has hoarded her spoil! ⁴ 

You are bound for judgment ¹  because you are robbing me – this whole nation is guilty. ² 

For you have brought these men here who are neither temple robbers ¹  nor blasphemers of our goddess. ² 

When ¹  they had heard my case, ²  they wanted to release me, ³  because there was no basis for a death sentence ⁴  against me.

But they are justified ¹  freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

For sin, seizing the opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it I died. ¹ 

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. ¹ 

For if God did not spare the natural branches, perhaps he will not spare you.

But if I build up again those things I once destroyed, ¹  I demonstrate that I am one who breaks God’s law. ² 

And so, ¹  since we have been justified by his grace, we become heirs with the confident expectation of eternal life.” ² 

But if you show prejudice, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as violators. ¹ 

So whoever knows what is good to do ¹  and does not do it is guilty of sin. ² 

Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have confidence in the presence of God,

Be careful lest you entertain the wicked thought that the seventh year, the year of cancellation of debts, has almost arrived, and your attitude ¹  be wrong toward your impoverished fellow Israelite ²  and you do not lend ³  him anything; he will cry out to the Lord against you and you will be regarded as having sinned. ⁴ 

Then Saul said, “O Lord God of Israel! If this sin has been committed by me or by my son Jonathan, then, O Lord God of Israel, respond with Urim. But if this sin has been committed by your people Israel, respond with Thummim.” ¹  Then Jonathan and Saul were indicated by lot, while the army was exonerated. ² 

Absalom said to Joab, “Look, I sent a message to you saying, ‘Come here so that I can send you to the king with this message: ¹  “Why have I come from Geshur? It would be better for me if I were still there.”’ Let me now see the face of the king. If I am at fault, let him put me to death!”

Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is there if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?

You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely reprove your fellow citizen so that you do not incur sin on account of him. ¹
