All the people throughout all the tribes of Israel were arguing among themselves saying, “The king delivered us from the hand of our enemies. He rescued us from the hand of the Philistines, but now he has fled from the land because of Absalom.

When King Hezekiah’s servants came to Isaiah,

They crouch, they bear ¹  their young, they bring forth the offspring they have carried. ² 

He delivered his people over to the sword, and was angry with his chosen nation. ¹ 

(For he knew that they had handed him over because of envy.) ¹ 

While ¹  they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. ² 

When the people saw him, ¹  they praised their god, saying, “Our god has handed our enemy over to us, the one who ruined our land and killed so many of us!” ² 

When Saul was told that David had come to Keilah, Saul said, “God has delivered ¹  him into my hand, for he has boxed himself into a corner by entering a city with two barred gates.” ² 

You have explained today how you have treated me well. The Lord delivered me into your hand, but you did not kill me.

But David said, “No! You shouldn’t do this, my brothers. Look at what the Lord has given us! ¹  He has protected us and has delivered into our hands the raiding party that came against us.

Jesus replied, “You would have no authority ¹  over me at all, unless it was given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you ²  is guilty of greater sin.” ³
