Having no regard ¹  for the command of God, you hold fast to human tradition.” ² 

Then ¹  he called the crowd again and said to them, “Listen to me, everyone, and understand.

When ¹  morning came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles: ² 

Then one of them, when he saw he was healed, turned back, praising ¹  God with a loud voice.

Our ¹  ancestors ²  were unwilling to obey ³  him, but pushed him aside ⁴  and turned back to Egypt in their hearts,

While Peter was still thinking seriously about ¹  the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Look! Three men are looking for you.

Even from among your own group ¹  men ²  will arise, teaching perversions of the truth ³  to draw the disciples away after them.

When they had eaten enough to be satisfied, ¹  they lightened the ship by throwing the wheat ²  into the sea.

For what does the scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited ¹  to him as righteousness.” ² 

Just as you were formerly disobedient to God, but have now received mercy due to their disobedience,

with this goal in mind, ¹  I strive toward the prize of the upward call of God ²  in Christ Jesus.

They will maintain the outward appearance ¹  of religion but will have repudiated its power. So avoid people like these. ² 

In fact, if they had been thinking of the land that they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.

Please let us pass through ¹  your country. We will not pass through the fields or through the vineyards, nor will we drink water from any well. We will go by the King’s Highway; ²  we will not turn to the right or the left until we have passed through your region.’” ³ 

It then turned on the west side southward from the hill near Beth Horon on the south and extended to Kiriath Baal (that is, Kiriath Jearim), a city belonging to the tribe ¹  of Judah. This is the western border. ² 

Far be it from us to rebel against the Lord by turning back today from following after the Lord by building an altar for burnt offerings, sacrifices, and tokens of peace ¹  aside from the altar of the Lord our God located in front of his dwelling place!” ² 

So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has enabled you to know all this, there is no one as wise and discerning ¹  as you are!

He looked this way and that ¹  and saw that no one was there, ²  and then he attacked ³  the Egyptian and concealed the body ⁴  in the sand.

(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites were living in the valleys.) ¹  Tomorrow, turn and journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red Sea.”

Then the angel of the Lord went farther, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right or to the left.
