Then ¹  Jesus’ ²  mother and his brothers ³  came. Standing ⁴  outside, they sent word to him, to summon him.

They all ate and were satisfied, and what was left over ¹  was picked up – twelve baskets of broken pieces.

So they approached the village where they were going. He acted as though he wanted to go farther, ¹ 

When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.” ¹ 

After this many of his disciples quit following him ¹  and did not accompany him ²  any longer.

Our ¹  ancestors ²  were unwilling to obey ³  him, but pushed him aside ⁴  and turned back to Egypt in their hearts,

(When they heard ¹  that he was addressing ²  them in Aramaic, ³  they became even ⁴  quieter.) ⁵  Then ⁶  Paul said,

When they had eaten enough to be satisfied, ¹  they lightened the ship by throwing the wheat ²  into the sea.

Now the soldiers’ plan was to kill the prisoners ¹  so that none of them would escape by swimming away. ² 

But they are justified ¹  freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

I do all these things because of the gospel, so that I can be a participant in it.

to the praise of the glory of his grace ¹  that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son. ² 

Slaves ¹  are to be subject to their own masters in everything, ²  to do what is wanted and not talk back,

In fact, if they had been thinking of the land that they had left, they would have had opportunity to return.

I also wanted to know ¹  the meaning of the ten horns on its head, and of that other horn which came up and before which three others fell. This was the horn that had eyes ²  and a mouth speaking arrogant things, whose appearance was more formidable than the others. ³ 

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, ¹  you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! ²  How often I have longed ³  to gather your children together as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but ⁴  you would have none of it! ⁵ 

I went there ¹  because of ²  a revelation and presented ³  to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did so ⁴  only in a private meeting with the influential people, ⁵  to make sure that I was not running – or had not run ⁶  – in vain.

the sons of God ¹  saw that the daughters of humankind were beautiful. Thus they took wives for themselves from any they chose.

Hasn’t he treated us like foreigners? He not only sold us, but completely wasted ¹  the money paid for us! ² 

The Lord ¹  gave the people favor ²  in the sight of the Egyptians, and they gave them whatever they wanted, ³  and so they plundered Egypt. ⁴
