like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds after the rain. ¹  This was the appearance of the surrounding brilliant light; it looked like the glory of the Lord. When I saw ²  it, I threw myself face down, and I heard a voice speaking.

Jesus said to her, “I, the one speaking to you, am he.”

The disciples began to look at one another, worried and perplexed ¹  to know which of them he was talking about.

When ¹  he had said these things, he knelt down ²  with them all and prayed.

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, ¹  has discovered regarding this matter? ² 

I am speaking to thoughtful people. Consider what I say.

And if someone sitting down receives a revelation, the person who is speaking should conclude.

influenced by the hypocrisy of liars ¹  whose consciences are seared. ² 

speaking of these things in all his letters. ¹  Some things in these letters ²  are hard to understand, things ³  the ignorant and unstable twist ⁴  to their own destruction, as they also do to the rest of the scriptures. ⁵ 

“Before I finished praying in my heart, ¹  along came Rebekah ²  with her water jug on her shoulder! She went down to the spring and drew water. So I said to her, ‘Please give me a drink.’

All the officials did indeed come and question Jeremiah. ¹  He told them exactly what the king had instructed him to say. ²  They stopped questioning him any further because no one had actually heard their conversation. ³ 

Jeremiah finished telling all the people all these things the Lord their God had sent him to tell them. ¹ 

Now at that very moment his disciples came back. ¹  They were shocked ²  because he was speaking ³  with a woman. However, no one said, “What do you want?” ⁴  or “Why are you speaking with her?”

To the same apostles ¹  also, after his suffering, ²  he presented himself alive with many convincing proofs. He was seen by them over a forty-day period ³  and spoke about matters concerning the kingdom of God.

(To my disgrace ¹  I must say that we were too weak for that!) ²  But whatever anyone else dares to boast about ³  (I am speaking foolishly), I also dare to boast about the same thing. ⁴ 

“As I was contemplating the horns, another horn – a small one – came up between them, and three of the former horns were torn out by the roots to make room for it. ¹  This horn had eyes resembling human eyes and a mouth speaking arrogant ²  things.

Don’t consider your servant a wicked woman, ¹  for until now I have spoken from my deep pain and anguish.”

After this the angelic messenger ¹  who had been speaking to me went out and said, “Look, see what is leaving.”

(Now he said this about Judas son of Simon Iscariot, ¹  for Judas, ²  one of the twelve, was going to betray him.) ³ 

If anyone wants to do God’s will, ¹  he will know about my teaching, whether it is from God or whether I speak from my own authority. ²
