This ¹  has been my practice, for I observe your precepts.

Here’s how! ¹  With the sharp arrows of warriors, with arrowheads forged over the hot coals. ² 

Yes indeed, the man who fears the Lord will be blessed in this way. ¹ 

How blessed will be the one who grabs your babies and smashes them on a rock! ¹ 

in order to take ¹  revenge on the nations, and punish foreigners.

The wise inherit honor, but he holds fools up ¹  to public contempt. ² 

The reward ¹  which the righteous receive ²  is life; the recompense ³  which the wicked receive ⁴  is judgment. ⁵ 

Calamity ¹  pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous. ² 

A gift given ¹  in secret subdues ²  anger, and a bribe given secretly ³  subdues ⁴  strong wrath. ⁵ 

ת (Tav) Pay them back ¹  what they deserve, ²  O Lord, according to what they ³  have done. ⁴ 

You must bear your punishment for your obscene conduct and your abominable practices, declares the Lord.

And these will depart into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Blessed is that slave ¹  whom his master finds at work ²  when he returns.

They ¹  were delighted ²  and arranged to give him money. ³ 

it is not from ¹  works, so that no one can boast. ² 

“Honor your father and mother,” ¹  which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely,

and so, somehow, ¹  to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

because you are attaining the goal of your faith – the salvation of your souls.

Balak said to Balaam, “Did I not send again and again ¹  to you to summon you? Why did you not come to me? Am I not able to honor you?” ² 

The Lord rewards each man for his integrity and loyalty. ¹  Even though today the Lord delivered you into my hand, I was not willing to extend my hand against the Lord’s chosen one.
