“People ¹  cry out because of the excess of oppression; ²  they cry out for help because of the power ³  of the mighty. ⁴ 

I am numb with pain and severely battered; ¹  I groan loudly because of the anxiety I feel. ² 

But those who are my enemies for no reason are numerous; ¹  those who hate me without cause outnumber me. ² 

before the vindictive enemy who ridicules and insults me. ¹ 

Since I wanted to know ¹  what charge they were accusing him of, ²  I brought him down to their council. ³ 

This is the reason ¹  I do my best to always ²  have a clear ³  conscience toward God and toward people. ⁴

and for this reason he is obligated to make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people.

But there was no food in all the land because the famine was very severe; the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan wasted away ¹  because of the famine.

Yet you ask, “Why?” The Lord is testifying against you on behalf of the wife you married when you were young, ¹  to whom you have become unfaithful even though she is your companion and wife by law. ² 

A third time he said to them, “Why? What wrong has he done? I have found him guilty ¹  of no crime deserving death. ²  I will therefore flog ³  him and release him.”

The one who practices sin is of the devil, ¹  because the devil has been sinning ²  from the beginning. For this purpose ³  the Son of God was revealed: to destroy ⁴  the works of the devil.

That is why ¹  a man leaves ²  his father and mother and unites with ³  his wife, and they become a new family. ⁴ 

The previous abundance of the land will not be remembered ¹  because of the famine that follows, for the famine will be very severe. ² 

or a man who touches a swarming thing by which he becomes unclean, ¹  or touches a person ²  by which he becomes unclean, whatever that person’s impurity ³  –

So Achish gave him Ziklag on that day. (For that reason Ziklag has belonged to the kings of Judah until this very day.)

Jeroboam’s wife did as she was told. She went to Shiloh and visited Ahijah. ¹  Now Ahijah could not see; he had lost his eyesight in his old age. ²
