You are my hiding place and my shield. I find hope in your word.

Ascend, O Lord, to your resting place, you and the ark of your strength!

When pride ¹  comes, ²  then comes disgrace, ³  but with humility ⁴  comes ⁵  wisdom.

With pride ¹  comes only ²  contention, but wisdom is with the well-advised. ³ 

A person who has a quick temper ¹  does foolish things, and a person with crafty schemes ²  is hated. ³ 

A tranquil spirit ¹  revives the body, ²  but envy ³  is rottenness to the bones. ⁴ 

Then ¹  he warned them not to tell anyone about him. ² 

But he forcefully commanded ¹  them not to tell this to anyone, ² 

for it is impossible ¹  for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard.”

Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer.

And if someone sitting down receives a revelation, the person who is speaking should conclude.

with all humility and gentleness, ¹  with patience, bearing with ²  one another in love,

The Israelites humiliated Midian; the Midianites’ fighting spirit was broken. ¹  The land had rest for forty years during Gideon’s time. ² 

When Elijah heard it, he covered his face with his robe and went out and stood at the entrance to the cave. All of a sudden ¹  a voice asked him, “Why are you here, Elijah?”

He built fortified cities throughout Judah, for the land was at rest and there was no war during those years; the Lord gave him peace.

“Shout loudly! Don’t be quiet! Yell as loud as a trumpet! Confront my people with their rebellious deeds; ¹  confront Jacob’s family with their sin! ² 

He said to them, “Come with me privately to an isolated place and rest a while” (for many were coming and going, and there was no time to eat).

Now the passage of scripture the man ¹  was reading was this: “He was led like a sheep to slaughter, and like a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did ²  not open his mouth.

When the commanding officer ¹  had given him permission, ²  Paul stood ³  on the steps and gestured ⁴  to the people with his hand. When they had become silent, ⁵  he addressed ⁶  them in Aramaic, ⁷ 

“If someone ¹  should attempt ²  a word with you, will you be impatient? ³  But who can refrain from speaking ⁴ ?
