Jeroboam son of Nebat, one of Solomon’s servants, rebelled against ¹  the king. He was an Ephraimite ²  from Zeredah whose mother was a widow named Zeruah.

He said to his father, “My head! My head!” His father ¹  told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”

So he picked him up and took him to his mother. He sat on her lap ¹  until noon and then died.

When Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she was determined to destroy the entire royal line. ¹ 

(12:2) In Jehu’s seventh year Jehoash became king; he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother was Zibiah, who was from Beer Sheba.

Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned for fifty-five years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother ²  was Hephzibah.

Jabez was more respected than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, for she said, “I experienced pain when I gave birth to him.” ¹ 

He ruled for three years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother was Michaiah, the daughter of Uriel from Gibeah. ²  There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

Joash was seven years old when he began to reign. He reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother was Zibiah, who was from Beer Sheba.

Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. ¹  His mother’s name was Jecholiah, who was from Jerusalem.

Yes, you are the one who brought me out ¹  from the womb and made me feel secure on my mother’s breasts.

May his ancestors’ ¹  sins be remembered by the Lord! May his mother’s sin not be forgotten! ² 

For he did not kill me before I came from the womb, making my pregnant mother’s womb my grave forever. ¹ 

I will force you and your mother who gave you birth into exile. You will be exiled to ¹  a country where neither of you were born, and you will both die there.

and say: “‘What a lioness was your mother among the lions! She lay among young lions; ¹  she reared her cubs.

saying, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and go to the land of Israel, for those who were seeking the child’s life are dead.”

While Jesus ¹  was still speaking to the crowds, ²  his mother and brothers ³  came and ⁴  stood outside, asking ⁵  to speak to him.

Isn’t this the carpenter’s son? Isn’t his mother named Mary? ¹  And aren’t his brothers James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas?

and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be united with his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? ¹
