since ¹  we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints.

For we hear that some among you are living an undisciplined life, ¹  not doing their own work but meddling in the work of others. ² 

Now in fact all who want to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

For perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated from you for a little while, so that you would have him back eternally, ¹ 

Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness, ¹  for without it no one will see the Lord.

And the fruit that consists of righteousness ¹  is planted ²  in peace among ³  those who make peace.

I have no greater joy than this: to hear ¹  that my children are living according to the truth. ² 

“While the earth continues to exist, ¹  planting time ²  and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night will not cease.”

Then Abraham ran to the herd and chose a fine, tender calf, and gave it to a servant, ¹  who quickly prepared it. ² 

When Leah saw that she had stopped having children, she gave ¹  her servant Zilpah to Jacob as a wife.

He asked them how they were doing. ¹  Then he said, “Is your aging father well, the one you spoke about? Is he still alive?”

When Jacob was told, ¹  “Your son Joseph has just ²  come to you,” Israel regained strength and sat up on his bed.

“‘If, in spite of all these things, ¹  you do not obey me, I will discipline you seven times more on account of your sins. ² 

“Make ¹  two trumpets of silver; you are to make ²  them from a single hammered piece. ³  You will use them ⁴  for assembling the community and for directing the traveling of the camps.

When all the community saw that Aaron was dead, the whole house of Israel mourned for Aaron thirty days.

Then the angel of the Lord went farther, and stood in a narrow place, where there was no way to turn either to the right or to the left.

So now, go back where you came from! ¹  I said that I would greatly honor you; but now the Lord has stood in the way of your honor.”

Instead, you must kill him without fail! ¹  Your own hand must be the first to strike him, ²  and then the hands of the whole community.

The leaders then added, ¹  “Let them live.” So they became ²  woodcutters and water carriers for the whole community, as the leaders had decided. ³ 

Now you are condemned to perpetual servitude as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.” ¹
