The one who walks blamelessly will be delivered, ¹  but whoever is perverse in his ways will fall ²  at once. ³ 

Can spoils be taken from a warrior, or captives be rescued from a conqueror? ¹ 

“After I had given the copies of the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord,

And in anger his lord turned him over to the prison guards to torture him ¹  until he repaid all he owed.

like the accounts ¹  passed on ²  to us by those who were eyewitnesses and servants of the word ³  from the beginning. ⁴

He rescues and delivers and performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on the earth. He has rescued Daniel from the power ¹  of the lions!”

You should not have stood at the fork in the road ¹  to slaughter ²  those trying to escape. ³  You should not have captured their refugees when they suffered adversity. ⁴ 

The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. ¹  He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster. ² 

“Take these words to heart, ¹  for the Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men.” ² 

I praise you ¹  because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I passed them on to you.

For I passed on to you as of first importance ¹  what I also received – that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures,
