These were the men whom Moses and Aaron numbered ¹  along with the twelve leaders of Israel, each of whom ²  was from his own family.

“‘On the second day you must offer twelve young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs one year old, all without blemish,

They traveled from Marah and came to Elim; in Elim there are twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees, so they camped there.

Merari’s descendants by their clans were allotted twelve cities from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.

The girl got up at once and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). They were completely astonished at this. ¹ 

Jesus ¹  called the twelve and began to send them out two by two. He gave them authority over the unclean spirits. ² 

When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you pick up?” They replied, “Twelve.”

After he sat down, he called the twelve and said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.”

Some time ¹  afterward ²  he went on through towns ³  and villages, preaching and proclaiming the good news ⁴  of the kingdom of God. ⁵  The ⁶  twelve were with him,
