The wicked turn aside from birth; ¹  liars go astray as soon as they are born. ² 

¹ I say to the proud, “Do not be proud,” and to the wicked, “Do not be so confident of victory! ² 

God says, ¹  “I will bring down all the power of the wicked; the godly will be victorious.” ² 

in order to protect him from times of trouble, ¹  until the wicked are destroyed. ² 

Who will rise up to defend me ¹  against the wicked? Who will stand up for me against the evildoers? ² 

The wicked lay a trap for me, but I do not wander from your precepts.

You remove all the wicked of the earth like slag. ¹  Therefore I love your rules. ² 

If only ¹  you would kill the wicked, O God! Get away from me, you violent men! ² 

but the wicked ¹  will be removed ²  from the land, and the treacherous ³  will be torn away ⁴  from it.

The way of the wicked is like gloomy darkness; ¹  they do not know what causes them to stumble. ² 

Blessings ¹  are on the head of the righteous, but the speech ²  of the wicked conceals ³  violence. ⁴ 

When the righteous do well, ¹  the city rejoices; ²  when the wicked perish, there is joy.

The words of the wicked lie in wait ¹  to shed innocent blood, ²  but the words ³  of the upright will deliver them.

The light ¹  of the righteous shines brightly, ²  but the lamp ³  of the wicked goes out. ⁴ 

Those who are evil will bow ¹  before those who are good, and the wicked will bow ²  at the gates ³  of the righteous.

The one who despises his neighbor sins, but whoever is kind to the needy is blessed.

The Righteous One ¹  considers ²  the house ³  of the wicked; he overthrows the wicked to their ruin. ⁴ 

All day long he craves greedily, ¹  but the righteous gives and does not hold back. ² 

for the evil person has no future, ¹  and the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished. ² 

Too bad for the wicked sinners! For they will get exactly what they deserve. ¹
