He bends down to look ¹  at the sky and the earth.

I will meditate on ¹  your precepts and focus ²  on your behavior. ³ 

in order to safeguard ¹  discretion, ²  and that your lips may guard knowledge.

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” ¹  and call understanding a close relative,

The Lord spoke to Jeremiah ²  about the drought. ³ 

Look, you are wiser than Daniel; ¹  no secret is hidden from you. ² 

I cared ¹  for you in the wilderness, in the dry desert where no water was. ² 

Now a dispute came about between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew ¹  concerning ceremonial washing. ² 

concerning righteousness, ¹  because ²  I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer;

and concerning judgment, ¹  because ²  the ruler of this world ³  has been condemned. ⁴ 

Therefore do not let what you consider good ¹  be spoken of as evil.

Why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do! ¹ 

So welcome him in the Lord with great joy, and honor people like him,

More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things – indeed, I regard them as dung! ¹  – that I may gain Christ,

By faith also Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning the future.

You will oversee my household, and all my people will submit to your commands. ¹  Only I, the king, will be greater than you. ² 

Now this is his uncleanness in regard to his discharge ¹  – whether his body secretes his discharge or blocks his discharge, he is unclean. All the days that his body has a discharge or his body blocks his discharge, ²  this is his uncleanness. ³ 

“‘If a resident foreigner who is with you prospers ¹  and your brother becomes impoverished with regard to him so that ²  he sells himself to a resident foreigner who is with you or to a member ³  of a foreigner’s family,

As she was dying, the women who were there with her said, “Don’t be afraid! You have given birth to a son!” But she did not reply or pay any attention. ¹
