Then ¹  they led Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests and elders and experts in the law ²  came together.

Now the priests would always treat the people in the following way: ¹  Whenever anyone was making a sacrifice, while the meat was boiling, the priest’s attendant would come with a three-pronged fork ²  in his hand.

Any male among the priests may eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy. ¹ 

then both parties to the controversy must stand before the Lord, that is, before the priests and judges ¹  who will be in office in those days.

So when the people left their tents to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ¹  ahead of them.

and when all the people had finished crossing, the ark of the Lord and the priests crossed as the people looked on. ¹ 

The seventh time around, the priests blew the rams’ horns and Joshua told the army, ¹  “Give the battle cry, ²  for the Lord is handing the city over to you! ³ 

The priests could not carry out their duties ¹  because of the cloud; the Lord’s glory filled his temple. ² 

He built temples ¹  on the high places and appointed as priests people who were not Levites.

By the twenty-third year of King Jehoash’s reign the priests had still not repaired the damage to the temple.

The priests agreed ¹  not to collect silver from the people and relieved themselves of personal responsibility for the temple repairs. ² 

(The silver collected in conjunction with reparation offerings and sin offerings was not brought to the Lord’s temple; it belonged to the priests.)

So one of the priests whom they had deported from Samaria went back and settled in Bethel. ¹  He taught them how to worship ²  the Lord.

The first to resettle on their property and in their cities were some Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants. ¹ 

David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar, along with the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.

Zadok the priest and his fellow priests served ¹  before the Lord’s tabernacle at the worship center ²  in Gibeon,

He made the courtyard of the priests and the large enclosure and its doors; ¹  he plated their doors with bronze.

The priests could not carry out their duties ¹  because of the cloud; the Lord’s splendor filled God’s temple.

They did not neglect any detail of the king’s orders pertaining to the priests, Levites, and treasuries. ¹ 

Jeroboam ¹  appointed his own priests to serve at the worship centers ²  and to lead in the worship of the goat idols and calf idols he had made. ³
