People ¹  have opened their mouths against me, they have struck my cheek in scorn; ²  they unite ³  together against me.

The Lord said, ¹  “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have made a promise on oath to David, my servant:

Be assured that ¹  the evil person will certainly be punished, ²  but the descendants of the righteous ³  will not suffer unjust judgment. ⁴ 

The Lord abhors ¹  every arrogant person; ²  rest assured ³  that they will not go unpunished. ⁴

So they made a treaty ¹  at Beer Sheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, returned ²  to the land of the Philistines. ³ 

At the end of the 430 years, on the very day, all the regiments ¹  of the Lord went out of the land of Egypt.

All those numbered of the camp of Judah, according to their divisions, are 186,400. They will travel ¹  at the front.

“On the south will be the divisions of the camp of Reuben under their standard. ¹  The leader of the people of Reuben is Elizur son of Shedeur.

All those numbered of the camp of Reuben, according to their divisions, are 151,450. They will travel second.

“On the west will be the divisions of the camp of Ephraim under their standard. The leader of the people of Ephraim is Elishama son of Amihud.

All those numbered of the camp of Ephraim, according to their divisions, are 108,100. They will travel third.

“On the north will be the divisions of the camp of Dan, under their standards. The leader of the people of Dan is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.

All those numbered of the camp of Dan are 157,600. They will travel last, under their standards.”
