But his bow will remain steady, and his hands ¹  will be skillful; because of the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, because of ²  the Shepherd, the Rock ³  of Israel,

He lifted me out of the watery pit, ¹  out of the slimy mud. ²  He placed my feet on a rock and gave me secure footing. ³ 

We heard about God’s mighty deeds, now we have seen them, ¹  in the city of the Lord, the invincible Warrior, ²  in the city of our God. God makes it permanently secure. ³  (Selah)

“For just as the new heavens and the new earth I am about to make will remain standing before me,” says the Lord, “so your descendants and your name will remain.

You have not gone up in the breaks in the wall, nor repaired a wall for the house of Israel that it would stand strong in the battle on the day of the Lord.

He must hold firmly to the faithful message as it has been taught, ¹  so that he will be able to give exhortation in such healthy teaching ²  and correct those who speak against it.

And, after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who called you to his eternal glory in Christ ¹  will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. ² 

Through Silvanus, ¹  whom I know to be a faithful brother, ²  I have written to you briefly, in order to encourage you and testify ³  that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it. ⁴ 

He gives me the agility of a deer; ¹  he enables me to negotiate the rugged terrain. ² 

Solomon sat on his father David’s throne, and his royal authority ¹  was firmly solidified.

For they were under royal orders ¹  which determined their activity day by day. ² 

But the righteous man holds to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger. ¹ 

then his flesh is restored ¹  like a youth’s; he returns to the days of his youthful vigor. ² 

He divided the sea and led them across it; he made the water stand in a heap.

‘I will give you an eternal dynasty ¹  and establish your throne throughout future generations.’” ²  (Selah)

The rules you set down ¹  are completely reliable. ²  Holiness ³  aptly adorns your house, O Lord, forever. ⁴ 

He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended.

You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. ¹ 

You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations. ¹  You established the earth and it stood firm.

for the Lord will be ¹  the source of your confidence, ²  and he will guard your foot ³  from being caught in a trap. ⁴
