That very day Herod and Pilate became friends with each other, ¹  for prior to this they had been enemies. ² 

When he ¹  blesses you, if the ²  place where he chooses to locate his name is distant,

So he took his relatives ¹  with him and pursued Jacob ²  for seven days. ³  He caught up with ⁴  him in the hill country of Gilead.

Keep your distance ¹  from a false charge ²  – do not kill the innocent and the righteous, ³  for I will not justify the wicked. ⁴ 

They are like ¹  valleys ²  stretched forth, like gardens by the river’s side, like aloes ³  that the Lord has planted, and like cedar trees beside the waters.

This is how you are to deal with all those cities located far from you, those that do not belong to these nearby nations.

Gilead stayed put ¹  beyond the Jordan River. As for Dan – why did he seek temporary employment in the shipyards? ²  Asher remained ³  on the seacoast, he stayed ⁴  by his harbors. ⁵ 

If I had acted at risk of my own life ¹  – and nothing is hidden from the king! – you would have abandoned me.” ² 

The one who touches them must use an iron instrument or the wooden shaft of a spear. They are completely burned up right where they lie!” ¹ 

When they got up early the next morning, the sun was shining on the water. To the Moabites, who were some distance away, the water looked red like blood.

Mordecai wrote these matters down and sent letters to all the Jews who were throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both near and far,

You cause those who know me to keep their distance; you make me an appalling sight to them. I am trapped and cannot get free. ¹ 

The Lord is far ¹  from the wicked, but he hears ²  the prayer of the righteous. ³ 

Turn your eyes away from me – they overwhelm ¹  me! Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from Mount Gilead.

He measured ¹  the porch ²  at 105 feet ³  high; ⁴  the gateway went all around to the jamb of the courtyard.

The pavement was beside the gates, corresponding to the length of the gates; this was the lower pavement.

Then Jesus ¹  placed his hands on the man’s ²  eyes again. And he opened his eyes, ³  his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

I wish I could be with you now and change my tone of voice, ¹  because I am perplexed about you.

For he is our peace, the one who made both groups into one ¹  and who destroyed the middle wall of partition, the hostility,

since it was because of the work of Christ that he almost died. He risked his life so that he could make up for your inability to serve me. ¹
