When ¹  he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. ²  After he sat down his disciples came to him.

Then he instructed his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ. ¹ 

Now ¹  people were bringing little children to him for him to touch, ²  but the disciples scolded those who brought them. ³ 

Then ¹  they went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus ²  said to his disciples, “Sit here while I pray.”

But ¹  some of the Pharisees ²  in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” ³ 

Now when Jesus ¹  knew that the Pharisees ²  had heard that he ³  was winning ⁴  and baptizing more disciples than John

One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved, ¹  was at the table ²  to the right of Jesus in a place of honor. ³ 

My Father is honored ¹  by this, that ²  you bear ³  much fruit and show that you are ⁴  my disciples.

Now Jesus performed ¹  many other miraculous signs in the presence of the ²  disciples, which are not recorded ³  in this book. ⁴ 

Meanwhile Saul, still breathing out threats ¹  to murder ²  the Lord’s disciples, went to the high priest

and after taking some food, his strength returned. For several days ¹  he was with the disciples in Damascus,

Even from among your own group ¹  men ²  will arise, teaching perversions of the truth ³  to draw the disciples away after them.

Then Jesus and his disciples went to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. ¹  On the way he asked his disciples, ²  “Who do people say that I am?”

Another ¹  of the ²  disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

But his disciples took him at night and let him down through an opening ¹  in the wall by lowering him in a basket. ² 

At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on a Sabbath. His ¹  disciples were hungry, and they began to pick heads of wheat ²  and eat them.

Simon Peter, Thomas ¹  (called Didymus), ²  Nathanael ³  (who was from Cana ⁴  in Galilee), the sons ⁵  of Zebedee, ⁶  and two other disciples ⁷  of his were together.

Then ¹  all the disciples ²  left him and fled.

When ¹  Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in their towns.

But when the Pharisees ¹  saw this they said to him, “Look, your disciples are doing what is against the law to do on the Sabbath.”
