Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! ¹  For he is the one who gives me confidence. ² 

I know ¹  that the Lord defends the cause of the oppressed and vindicates the poor. ² 

Do not trust in princes, or in human beings, who cannot deliver! ¹ 

A wise person is cautious ¹  and turns from evil, but a fool throws off restraint ²  and is overconfident. ³ 

The wicked will be thrown down in his trouble, ¹  but the righteous have refuge ²  even in the threat of death. ³ 

The wise person ¹  can scale ²  the city of the mighty and bring down the stronghold ³  in which they trust. ⁴ 

A wicked person ¹  shows boldness with his face, ²  but as for the upright, ³  he discerns ⁴  his ways.

When Jesus saw their ¹  faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” ² 

Then ¹  he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. ²  Go in peace.”

Then ¹  he said to the man, ²  “Get up and go your way. Your faith has made you well.” ³ 

I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  if anyone obeys ²  my teaching, ³  he will never see death.” ⁴ 

Therefore keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God ¹  that it will be just as I have been told.

Thus we are full of courage and would prefer to be away ¹  from the body and at home with the Lord.

so that we, who were the first to set our hope ¹  on Christ, ²  would be to the praise of his glory.

so that what you can be proud of may increase ¹  because of me in Christ Jesus, when I come back to you. ² 

since ¹  we heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints.

So ¹  in all our distress and affliction, we were reassured about you, brothers and sisters, ²  through your faith.

in hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the ages began. ¹ 

Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.

For judgment is merciless for the one who has shown no mercy. But mercy triumphs over ¹  judgment.
