The one who ¹  is slack ²  in his work is a brother ³  to one who destroys. ⁴ 

A person who has friends ¹  may be harmed by them, ²  but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James, ¹  and John, the brother of James.

The one who loves his fellow Christian ¹  resides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. ² 

But Jacob ¹  himself went on ahead of them, and he bowed toward the ground seven times as he approached ²  his brother.

Now there were seven brothers among us. The first one married and died, and since he had no children he left his wife to his brother.

Everyone must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives. ¹  For every one of them will find some way to cheat him. ²  And all of his friends will tell lies about him.

If anyone says ¹  “I love God” and yet ²  hates his fellow Christian, ³  he is a liar, because the one who does not love his fellow Christian ⁴  whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. ⁵ 

Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend, and do not enter your brother’s house in the day of your disaster; a neighbor nearby is better than a brother far away. ¹ 

But the Lord said, “What have you done? ¹  The voice ²  of your brother’s blood is crying out to me from the ground!

So now, you are banished ¹  from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

And sons were also born ¹  to Shem (the older brother of Japheth), ²  the father of all the sons of Eber.

After these things Abraham was told, “Milcah ¹  also has borne children to your brother Nahor –

But Rebekah’s ¹  brother and her mother replied, “Let the girl stay with us a few more days, perhaps ten. Then she can go.”

Then Judah said to his brothers, “What profit is there if we kill our brother and cover up his blood?

But Jacob did not send Joseph’s brother Benjamin with his brothers, ¹  for he said, ²  “What if some accident ³  happens ⁴  to him?”

You will be tested in this way: As surely as Pharaoh lives, ¹  you will not depart from this place unless your youngest brother comes here.

But you must bring ¹  your youngest brother to me. Then ²  your words will be verified ³  and you will not die.” They did as he said. ⁴ 

Israel said, “Why did you bring this trouble ¹  on me by telling ²  the man you had one more brother?”

But you said to your servants, ‘If your youngest brother does not come down with you, you will not see my face again.’
