We ¹  wait for the Lord; he is our deliverer ²  and shield. ³

Since ancient times no one has heard or perceived, ¹  no eye has seen any God besides you, who intervenes for those who wait for him.

to ¹  those who wait ²  for death that ³  does not come, and search for it ⁴  more than for hidden treasures,

They stalk ¹  and lurk; ²  they watch my every step, ³  as ⁴  they prepare to take my life. ⁵ 

For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise. ¹ 

Everything looks to you in anticipation, ¹  and you provide them with food on a regular basis. ² 

as we wait for the happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing ¹  of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. ²

How much less, then, when you say that you do not perceive him, that the case is before him and you are waiting for him! ¹
