Then Moses said to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar his other two sons, “Do not ¹  dishevel the hair of your heads ²  and do not tear your garments, so that you do not die and so that wrath does not come on the whole congregation. Your brothers, all the house of Israel, are to mourn the burning which the Lord has caused, ³ 

Then two prostitutes came to the king and stood before him.

he makes the Bear, ¹  Orion, ²  and the Pleiades, ³  and the constellations of the southern sky; ⁴ 

when I prescribed ¹  its limits, and set ²  in place its bolts and doors,

They crouch, they bear ¹  their young, they bring forth the offspring they have carried. ² 

They say, ¹  “Let’s tear off the shackles they’ve put on us! ²  Let’s free ourselves from ³  their ropes!”

Then I will rejoice in the Lord and be happy because of his deliverance. ¹ 

You do damage with words, ¹  and use your tongue to deceive. ² 

O Lord, give me the words! ¹  Then my mouth will praise you. ² 

in order to shoot down the innocent ¹  in secluded places. They shoot at him suddenly and are unafraid of retaliation. ² 

He rained hail down on their cattle, ¹  and hurled lightning bolts down on their livestock. ² 

He delivered his people over to the sword, and was angry with his chosen nation. ¹ 

You withdrew all your fury; you turned back from your raging anger. ¹ 

a false witness who pours out lies, ¹  and a person who spreads discord ²  among family members. ³ 

He was passing by the street near her corner, making his way ¹  along the road to her house ² 

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

Your eyes will see strange things, ¹  and your mind will speak perverse things.

Do not give your strength ¹  to women, nor your ways ²  to that which ruins ³  kings.

ה (He) He shot ¹  his arrows ²  into my heart. ³ 

Old and new wine take away the understanding of my people. ¹
