So Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; therefore Israel turned away from him.

The border will continue to Ziphron, and its direction will be to Hazar Enan. This will be your northern border.

The men examined ¹  some of their provisions, but they failed to ask the Lord’s advice. ² 

I will shoot three arrows near it, as though I were shooting at a target.

“Leave here and travel eastward. Hide out in the Kerith Valley near the Jordan.

Under the whole heaven he lets it go, even his lightning to the far corners ¹  of the earth.

“In what direction ¹  does light reside, and darkness, where is its place,

In what direction is lightning ¹  dispersed, or the east winds scattered over the earth?

He restores my strength. He leads me down the right paths for the sake of his reputation.

When there is no guidance ¹  a nation falls, but there is success ²  in the abundance of counselors.

Train ¹  a child ²  in the way that he should go, ³  and when he is old he will not turn from it. ⁴ 

A wise person’s good sense protects him, ¹  but a fool’s lack of sense leaves him vulnerable. ² 

their wings touched each other; they did not turn as they moved, but went straight ahead. ¹ 

You ¹  received the law by decrees given by angels, ²  but you did not obey ³  it.” ⁴ 

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you too were called to the one hope of your calling,

You, however, ¹  have followed my teaching, my ²  way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,

Lot looked up and saw ¹  the whole region ²  of the Jordan. He noticed ³  that all of it was well-watered (before the Lord obliterated ⁴  Sodom and Gomorrah) ⁵  like the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, ⁶  all the way to Zoar.

Now a wind ¹  went out ²  from the Lord and brought quail ³  from the sea, and let them fall ⁴  near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side, and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about three feet ⁵  high on the surface of the ground.

“The Lord will allow you to be struck down before your enemies; you will attack them from one direction but flee from them in seven directions and will become an object of terror ¹  to all the kingdoms of the earth.

Then the cows went directly on the road to Beth Shemesh. They went along, mooing as they went; they turned neither to the right nor to the left. The leaders of the Philistines were walking along behind them all the way to the border of Beth Shemesh.
