While we remained there for a number of days, ¹  a prophet named Agabus ²  came down from Judea.

but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and a fury ¹  of fire that will consume God’s enemies. ² 

Then Haman said to King Ahasuerus, “There is a particular people ¹  that is dispersed and spread among the inhabitants ²  throughout all the provinces of your kingdom whose laws differ from those of all other peoples. Furthermore, they do not observe the king’s laws. It is not appropriate for the king to provide a haven for them. ³ 

The king replied, “I know for sure that you are attempting to gain time, because you see that my decision is firm.

Now ¹  an expert in religious law ²  stood up to test Jesus, ³  saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ⁴ 

Now by chance ¹  a priest was going down that road, but ²  when he saw the injured man ³  he passed by ⁴  on the other side. ⁵ 

Now some men came down from Judea ¹  and began to teach the brothers, “Unless you are circumcised ²  according to the custom of Moses, you cannot be saved.”

For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith who made silver shrines ¹  of Artemis, ²  brought a great deal ³  of business ⁴  to the craftsmen.

Instead someone testified somewhere: “What is man that you think of him ¹  or the son of man that you care for him?

You saw that a stone was cut from a mountain, but not by human hands; it smashed the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold into pieces. The great God has made known to the king what will occur in the future. ¹  The dream is certain, and its interpretation is reliable.”

Now some of the experts in the law ¹  were sitting there, turning these things over in their minds: ² 

Now ¹  a woman was there who had been suffering from a hemorrhage ²  for twelve years. ³ 

so that you may know for certain ¹  the things you were taught. ² 

Now a certain man, a Pharisee ¹  named Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council, ² 

Now some Greeks ¹  were among those who had gone up to worship at the feast.

So ¹  Peter ²  stayed many days in Joppa with a man named ³  Simon, a tanner. ⁴ 

(Now seven sons of a man named ¹  Sceva, a Jewish high priest, were doing this.) ² 

Some have strayed from these and turned away to empty discussion.

Then the Lord said to Abram, “Know for certain ¹  that your descendants will be strangers ²  in a foreign country. ³  They will be enslaved and oppressed ⁴  for four hundred years.

So the Lord sent Nathan ¹  to David. When he came to David, ²  Nathan ³  said, ⁴  “There were two men in a certain city, one rich and the other poor.
