Jonathan made a covenant with David, for he loved him as much as he did his own life. ¹ 

David again assembled ¹  all the best ²  men in Israel, thirty thousand in number.

Then Jehu ordered, “Make arrangements for ¹  a celebration for Baal.” So they announced it.

saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”

This young woman pleased him, ¹  and she found favor with him. He quickly provided her with her cosmetics and her rations; he also provided her with the seven specially chosen ²  young women who were from the palace. He then transferred her and her young women to the best quarters in the harem. ³ 

Will you show him partiality? ¹  Will you argue the case ²  for God?

They willfully challenged God ¹  by asking for food to satisfy their appetite.

He delivered his people over to the sword, and was angry with his chosen nation. ¹ 

He says, ¹  “How long will you make unjust legal decisions and show favoritism to the wicked? ²  (Selah)

Certainly ¹  the Lord does not forsake his people; he does not abandon the nation that belongs to him. ² 

saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance.”

He gave their land as an inheritance, as an inheritance to Israel his people.

as an inheritance to Israel his servant, for his loyal love endures,

to guard ¹  the paths of the righteous ²  and to protect ³  the way of his pious ones. ⁴ 

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” ¹  and call understanding a close relative,

“I, wisdom, live with prudence, ¹  and I find ²  knowledge and discretion.

Do not eat the food of a stingy person, ¹  do not crave his delicacies;

Now King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had issued orders concerning Jeremiah. He had passed them on through Nebuzaradan, the captain of his royal guard, ¹ 

But ¹  he sternly ordered them not to make him known. ² 

But he forcefully commanded ¹  them not to tell this to anyone, ²
