Now ¹  a certain ruler ²  asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ³ 

Then ¹  Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you ²  by whose authority ³  I do these things.”

But ¹  he said to them, “How is it that they say that the Christ ²  is David’s son? ³ 

Now ¹  one of the experts in the law ²  came and heard them debating. When he saw that Jesus ³  answered them well, he asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”

If there is any question ¹  about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker among you; if there is any question about our brothers, they are messengers ²  of the churches, a glory to Christ.

So ¹  they answered Jesus, ²  “We don’t know.” ³  Then he said to them, “Neither will I tell you ⁴  by what authority ⁵  I am doing these things.

Then ¹  they came to Capernaum. ²  After Jesus ³  was inside the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?”

So ¹  they answered Jesus, ²  “We don’t know.” ³  Then Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you ⁴  by what authority ⁵  I am doing these things.”

Now ¹  an expert in religious law ²  stood up to test Jesus, ³  saying, “Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?” ⁴ 

So they asked John, ¹  “Why then are you baptizing if you are not the Christ, ²  nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

“Come, have breakfast,” Jesus said. ¹  But none of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” because they knew it was the Lord.

other than ¹  this one thing ²  I shouted out while I stood before ³  them: ‘I am on trial before you today concerning the resurrection of the dead.’” ⁴ 

In regard to the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but in regard to election they are dearly loved for the sake of the fathers.

So for me, it is a minor matter that I am judged by you or by any human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself.

For people ¹  swear by something greater than themselves, ²  and the oath serves as a confirmation to end all dispute. ³ 

The wisest of her ladies ¹  answer; indeed she even thinks to herself,

When David’s words were overheard and reported to Saul, he called for him. ¹ 

Have you never questioned those who travel the roads? Do you not recognize their accounts ¹  –

Destruction ¹  and Death say, ‘With our ears we have heard a rumor about where it can be found.’ ² 

Adorn yourself, then, with majesty and excellency, and clothe yourself with glory and honor!
