Do not say to your neighbor, “Go! Return tomorrow and I will give it,” when ¹  you have it with you at the time. ² 

A poor person is disliked ¹  even by his neighbors, but those who love the rich are many.

They help one another; ¹  one says to the other, ‘Be strong!’

When you make any kind of loan to your neighbor, you may not go into his house to claim what he is offering as security. ¹ 

I will destroy anyone who slanders his neighbor in secret. I will not tolerate anyone who has a cocky demeanor and an arrogant attitude. ¹ 

(though the father did not do any of them). ¹  He eats pagan sacrifices on the mountains, ²  defiles his neighbor’s wife,

Therefore, having laid aside falsehood, each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, ¹  for we are members of one another.

But if you fulfill the royal law as expressed in this scripture, ¹  “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” ²  you are doing well.

“When a person sins and commits a trespass ¹  against the Lord by deceiving his fellow citizen ²  in regard to something held in trust, or a pledge, or something stolen, or by extorting something from his fellow citizen, ³ 

then, my child, do this in order to deliver yourself, ¹  because you have fallen into your neighbor’s power: ²  go, humble yourself, ³  and appeal firmly ⁴  to your neighbor.

Everyone must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives. ¹  For every one of them will find some way to cheat him. ²  And all of his friends will tell lies about him.

If a man inflicts an injury on ¹  his fellow citizen, ²  just as he has done it must be done to him –

With his speech ¹  the godless person ²  destroys ³  his neighbor, but by knowledge ⁴  the righteous will be delivered.

A violent person ¹  entices ²  his neighbor, and leads him down a path that is terrible. ³ 

You rely ¹  on your swords and commit abominable deeds; each of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. Will you possess the land?’

The people will treat each other harshly; men will oppose each other; neighbors will fight. ¹  Youths will proudly defy the elderly and riffraff will challenge those who were once respected. ² 

You must not oppress your neighbor or commit robbery against him. ¹  You must not withhold ²  the wages of the hired laborer overnight until morning.

You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely reprove your fellow citizen so that you do not incur sin on account of him. ¹ 

He ¹  does not slander, ²  or do harm to others, ³  or insult his neighbor. ⁴ 

Do not go out hastily to litigation, ¹  or ²  what will you do afterward when your neighbor puts you to shame?
