They melted down the silver in the Lord’s temple ¹  and handed it over to the supervisors of the construction foremen.”

Then there were those who said, “We have borrowed money to pay our taxes to the king ¹  on our fields and our vineyards.

He does not charge interest when he lends his money. ¹  He does not take bribes to testify against the innocent. ²  The one who lives like this ³  will never be upended.

For wisdom provides ¹  protection, ²  just as ³  money provides protection. ⁴  But the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves the life ⁵  of its owner.

He ¹  said to them, “Take nothing for your ²  journey – no staff, ³  no bag, ⁴  no bread, no money, and do not take an extra tunic. ⁵ 

For people ¹  will be lovers of themselves, ²  lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,

But everyone’s servant who is bought for money, after you have circumcised him, may eat it.

I signed the deed of purchase, ¹  sealed it, and had some men serve as witnesses to the purchase. ²  I weighed out the silver for him on a scale.

For the love of money is the root ¹  of all evils. ²  Some people in reaching for it have strayed from the faith and stabbed themselves with many pains.

They did not audit the treasurers who disbursed ¹  the funds to the foremen, for they were honest. ² 

So they took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story is told among the Jews to this day. ¹ 

When they heard this, they were delighted ¹  and promised to give him money. ²  So ³  Judas ⁴  began looking for an opportunity to betray him.

¹ He found in the temple courts ²  those who were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting at tables. ³ 

Whenever the Levites brought the chest to the royal accountant and they saw there was a lot of silver, the royal scribe and the accountant of the high priest emptied the chest and then took it back to its place. They went through this routine every day and collected a large amount of silver.

Why pay money for something that will not nourish you? ¹  Why spend ²  your hard-earned money ³  on something that will not satisfy? Listen carefully ⁴  to me and eat what is nourishing! ⁵  Enjoy fine food! ⁶ 

All the men of his household, whether born in his household or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.

Then he purchased the portion of the field where he had pitched his tent; he bought it ¹  from the sons of Hamor, Shechem’s father, for a hundred pieces of money. ² 

When they saw the chest was full of silver, the royal secretary ¹  and the high priest counted the silver that had been brought to the Lord’s temple and bagged it up. ²
