“Zion said, ‘The Lord has abandoned me, the sovereign master ¹  has forgotten me.’

I ¹  am deprived ²  of peace; ³  I have forgotten what happiness ⁴  is.

I ¹  continually think about ²  this, and I ³  am depressed. ⁴ 

Why do you keep on forgetting ¹  us? Why do you forsake us so long?

as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets from long ago, ¹ 

I thank my God every time I remember you. ¹ 

Surely you recall ¹  that I used to tell you these things while I was still with you.

But in those sacrifices ¹  there is a reminder of sins year after year.

then he says, ¹  “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no longer.” ² 

For he gazes at himself and then goes out and immediately forgets ¹  what sort of person he was.

For the wise man, like ¹  the fool, will not be remembered for very long, ²  because ³  in the days to come, both will already have been forgotten. ⁴  Alas, ⁵  the wise man dies – just like ⁶  the fool!

Don’t be afraid, for you will not be put to shame! Don’t be intimidated, ¹  for you will not be humiliated! You will forget about the shame you experienced in your youth; you will no longer remember the disgrace of your abandonment. ² 

How long will they go on plotting ¹  to make my people forget who I am ²  through the dreams they tell one another? That is just as bad as what their ancestors ³  did when they forgot who I am by worshiping the god Baal. ⁴ 

They will bear their shame for all their unfaithful acts against me, when they live securely on their land with no one to make them afraid.

“I will attack ¹  Judah and all who live in Jerusalem. ²  I will remove ³  from this place every trace of Baal worship, ⁴  as well as the very memory ⁵  of the pagan priests. ⁶ 

Then ¹  he took bread, and after giving thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body ²  which is given for you. ³  Do this in remembrance of me.”

Then the chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh, “Today I recall my failures. ¹ 

You have forgotten ¹  the Rock who fathered you, and put out of mind the God who gave you birth.

You must never forget the agreement I made with you, and you must not worship other gods.

For no one remembers you in the realm of death, ¹  In Sheol who gives you thanks? ²
