sold ¹  a field ²  that belonged to him and brought the money ³  and placed it at the apostles’ feet.

Otherwise, ¹  when he has laid ²  a foundation and is not able to finish the tower, ³  all who see it ⁴  will begin to make fun of ⁵  him.

The ¹  women who had accompanied Jesus ²  from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

When ¹  they had driven him out of the city, they began to stone him, ²  and the witnesses laid their cloaks ³  at the feet of a young man named Saul.

We have come to know love by this: ¹  that Jesus ²  laid down ³  his life for us; thus we ought to lay down our lives for our fellow Christians.

So she laid his outer garment beside her until his master came home.

But the Egyptians mistreated and oppressed us, forcing us to do burdensome labor.

But man ¹  dies and is powerless; ²  he expires – and where is he? ³ 

the chief men refrained from talking and covered their mouths with their hands;

The shackles hurt his feet; ¹  his neck was placed in an iron collar, ² 

Wail, you large ships, ¹  for your fortress is destroyed!

And he placed his hands on them and went on his way. ¹ 

They ¹  laid hands on ²  the apostles and put them in a public jail.

(Now she had taken them up to the roof and had hidden them in the stalks of flax she had spread out ¹  on the roof.)

Yes, my hand founded the earth; my right hand spread out the sky. I summon them; they stand together.

The inhabited towns will be left in ruins and the land will be devastated. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’”

They ¹  have destroyed our ²  vines; ³  they have turned our ⁴  fig trees into mere splinters. They have completely stripped off the bark ⁵  and thrown them aside; the ⁶  twigs are stripped bare. ⁷ 

He was not able to do a miracle there, except to lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.

And I will say to myself, ¹  “You have plenty of goods stored up for many years; relax, eat, drink, celebrate!”’

Now at the place where Jesus ¹  was crucified ²  there was a garden, ³  and in the garden ⁴  was a new tomb where no one had yet been buried. ⁵
