You withdrew all your fury; you turned back from your raging anger. ¹ 

Yes, ¹  we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.

“Then the king ¹  will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every deity and he will utter presumptuous things against the God of gods. He will succeed until the time of ²  wrath is completed, for what has been decreed must occur. ³ 

Now ¹  when the other ten ²  heard this, ³  they were angry with the two brothers.

When ¹  the disciples saw this, they became indignant and said, “Why this waste?

Or are we trying to provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we really stronger than he is? ¹ 

“As I swore in my anger, ‘They will never enter my rest!’” ¹ 

because the great day of their ¹  wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?” ² 

Now Haman went forth that day pleased and very much encouraged. ¹  But when Haman saw Mordecai at the king’s gate, and he did not rise nor tremble in his presence, ²  Haman was filled with rage toward Mordecai.

The angel of the Lord then asked, “Lord who rules over all, ¹  how long before you have compassion on Jerusalem ²  and the other cities of Judah which you have been so angry with for these seventy years?” ³ 

But the Lord took note and despised them because his sons and daughters enraged him.

Because they are bent on violence, do not let them escape! ¹  In your anger ²  bring down the nations, ³  O God!

O sovereign Lord, ¹  at your right hand he strikes down ²  kings in the day he unleashes his anger. ³ 

Be angry and do not sin; ¹  do not let the sun go down on the cause of your anger. ² 

You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.

So he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him up as a burnt sacrifice on the wall. There was an outburst of divine anger against Israel, ¹  so they broke off the attack ²  and returned to their homeland.

The ships of Kittim ¹  will come against him, leaving him disheartened. ²  He will turn back and direct his indignation against the holy covenant. He will return and honor ³  those who forsake the holy covenant.

Edom ¹  says, “Though we are devastated, we will once again build the ruined places.” So the Lord who rules over all ²  responds, “They indeed may build, but I will overthrow. They will be known as ³  the land of evil, the people with whom the Lord is permanently displeased.

(3:33) ¹  Now when Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall he became angry and was quite upset. He derided the Jews,

“‘See, I strike my hands together ¹  at the dishonest profit you have made, and at the bloodshed ²  they have done among you.
