“What I am saying does not refer to all of you. I know the ones I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture, ¹  ‘The one who eats my bread ²  has turned against me.’ ³ 

Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. For although all things are clean, ¹  it is wrong to cause anyone to stumble by what you eat.

The righteous has enough food to satisfy his appetite, ¹  but the belly of the wicked lacks food. ² 

The withering flower, its beautiful splendor, situated at the head of a rich valley, will be like an early fig before harvest – as soon as someone notices it, he grabs it and swallows it. ¹ 

Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so the one who consumes ¹  me will live because of me.

He said to them, “Out of the one who eats came something to eat; out of the strong one came something sweet.” They could not solve the riddle for three days.

In excitement and impatience it consumes the ground; ¹  it cannot stand still ²  when the trumpet is blown.

The wild boars of the forest ruin it; ¹  the insects ²  of the field feed on it.

He said to them, “It is one of the twelve, one who dips his hand ¹  with me into the bowl. ² 

This ¹  is the bread that has come down from heaven, so that a person ²  may eat from it and not die.

A person should examine himself first, ¹  and in this way ²  let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world’s perspective and the world listens to them.

I am presently eighty years old. Am I able to discern good and bad? Can I ¹  taste what I eat and drink? Am I still able to hear the voices of male and female singers? Why should I ²  continue to be a burden to my lord the king?

The priest who offers it for sin is to eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the Meeting Tent.

You burn them up like a fiery furnace ¹  when you appear; ²  the Lord angrily devours them; ³  the fire consumes them.

He made cursing a way of life, ¹  so curses poured into his stomach like water and seeped into his bones like oil. ² 

Like a dog that returns to its vomit, ¹  so a fool repeats his folly. ² 

and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things ¹  are a gift from God.

For the fortified city ¹  is left alone; it is a deserted settlement and abandoned like the desert. Calves ²  graze there; they lie down there and eat its branches bare. ³ 

“‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Because they are saying to you, “You are a devourer of men, and bereave your nation of children,”
