“If my land cried out against me ²  and all its furrows wept together,

I cried out to you, “Deliver me, so that I can keep ¹  your rules.”

A song of ascents. ²  From the deep water ³  I cry out to you, O Lord.

Then they shouted back, ¹  “Not this man, ²  but Barabbas!” ³  (Now Barabbas was a revolutionary. ⁴ ) ⁵ 

for the man ¹  met her in the field and the engaged woman cried out, but there was no one to rescue her.

When ¹  the disciples saw him walking on the water ²  they were terrified and said, “It’s a ghost!” and cried out with fear.

But Jesus shouted out, ¹  “The one who believes in me does not believe in me, but in the one who sent me, ² 

When ¹  Pharaoh got closer, ²  the Israelites looked up, ³  and there were the Egyptians marching after them, ⁴  and they were terrified. ⁵  The Israelites cried out to the Lord, ⁶ 

So when we cried to the Lord, he heard our voice and sent a messenger, ¹  and has brought us up out of Egypt. Now ²  we are here in Kadesh, a town on the edge of your country. ³ 

So we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and he ¹  heard us and saw our humiliation, toil, and oppression.

When the Israelites cried out for help to the Lord, he ¹  raised up a deliverer for the Israelites who rescued ²  them. His name was Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother. ³ 

Then they cried out to the Lord and admitted, ¹  ‘We have sinned, for we have forsaken the Lord and have served the Baals and the images of Ashtoreth. ²  Now deliver us from the hand of our enemies so that we may serve you.’ ³ 

They received divine help in fighting them, and the Hagrites and all their allies were handed over to them. They cried out to God during the battle; he responded to their prayers because they trusted in him. ¹ 

but when I raised my voice and screamed, he left his outer garment and ran outside.”

¹ Then all the community raised a loud cry, ²  and the people wept ³  that night.

They cry out, ¹  but there is no one to help them; ²  they cry out to the Lord, ³  but he does not answer them.

To the Lord I cried out, ¹  and he answered me from his holy hill. ²  (Selah)

But they all shouted out together, ¹  “Take this man ²  away! Release Barabbas for us!”

and began to shout ¹  when they saw the smoke from the fire that burned her up, ²  “Who is like the great city?”

Joseph was no longer able to control himself before all his attendants, ¹  so he cried out, “Make everyone go out from my presence!” No one remained ²  with Joseph when he made himself known to his brothers.
