In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad ¹  tree bears bad fruit.

And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says! ¹ 

Your riches have rotted and your clothing has become moth-eaten.

His power will be great, but it will not be by his strength alone. He will cause terrible destruction. ¹  He will be successful in what he undertakes. ²  He will destroy powerful people and the people of the holy ones. ³ 

I am about to discipline your children ¹  and will spread offal ²  on your faces, ³  the very offal produced at your festivals, and you will be carried away along with it.

“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad ¹  and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is known by its fruit.

For we are not like so many others, hucksters who peddle the word of God for profit, ¹  but we are speaking in Christ before ²  God as persons of sincerity, ³  as persons sent from God.

You must let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth, but only what is beneficial for the building up of the one in need, ¹  that it may give grace to those who hear.

especially those who indulge their fleshly desires ¹  and who despise authority. Brazen and insolent, ²  they are not afraid to insult ³  the glorious ones, ⁴ 

¹ “You must not give ²  a false report. ³  Do not make common cause ⁴  with the wicked ⁵  to be a malicious ⁶  witness.

For the company of the godless is barren, ¹  and fire ²  consumes the tents of those who accept bribes. ³ 

but the wicked ¹  will be removed ²  from the land, and the treacherous ³  will be torn away ⁴  from it.

The lips of the righteous know ¹  what is pleasing, ²  but the speech ³  of the wicked is perverse.

Like a muddied ¹  spring and a polluted ²  well, so is a righteous person who gives way ³  before the wicked.

The human mind is more deceitful than anything else. It is incurably bad. ¹  Who can understand it?

“‘As for you, profane and wicked prince of Israel, ¹  whose day has come, the time of final punishment,

A good tree is not able to bear bad fruit, nor a bad tree to bear good fruit.

Tax collectors ¹  also came to be baptized, and they said to him, “Teacher, what should we do?”

Even from among your own group ¹  men ²  will arise, teaching perversions of the truth ³  to draw the disciples away after them.

for the weapons of our warfare are not human weapons, ¹  but are made powerful by God ²  for tearing down strongholds. ³  We tear down arguments ⁴
