While Jesus ¹  was still speaking to the crowds, ²  his mother and brothers ³  came and ⁴  stood outside, asking ⁵  to speak to him.

The woman was a Greek, of Syrophoenician origin. She ¹  asked him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

Then the Pharisees ¹  came and began to argue with Jesus, asking for ²  a sign from heaven ³  to test him.

“So ¹  I tell you: Ask, ²  and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door ³  will be opened for you.

I am praying ¹  on behalf of them. I am not praying ²  on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those you have given me, because they belong to you. ³ 

So when they had gathered together, they began to ask him, ¹  “Lord, is this the time when you are restoring the kingdom to Israel?”

and I always ask ¹  in my prayers, if perhaps now at last I may succeed in visiting you according to the will of God. ² 

I pray that ¹  the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, ²  may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation ³  in your growing knowledge of him, ⁴ 

We pray earnestly night and day to see you in person ¹  and make up what may be lacking in your faith.

When you leave me today, you will find two men near Rachel’s tomb at Zelzah on Benjamin’s border. They will say to you, ‘The donkeys you have gone looking for have been found. Your father is no longer concerned about the donkeys but has become anxious about you two! ¹  He is asking, “What should I do about my son?”’

David replied, “What have I done now? Can’t I say anything?” ¹ 

At that time King Ahaz asked the king ¹  of Assyria for help.

The lips of a fool ¹  enter into strife, ²  and his mouth invites ³  a flogging. ⁴ 

Plans ¹  are established by counsel, so ²  make war ³  with guidance.

Two things ¹  I ask from you; ²  do not refuse me before I die:

You have wearied the Lord with your words. But you say, “How have we wearied him?” Because you say, “Everyone who does evil is good in the Lord’s opinion, ¹  and he delights in them,” or “Where is the God of justice?”

When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.”

But ¹  he looked around to see who had done it.

He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They replied, “Seven.”

So ¹  the crowds were asking ²  him, “What then should we do?”
